Fresh mill, old walls
A mill line is a caption. Remaining walls are the print.
Shiny scorelines can be shallow from the factory. We have seen 2024 mills that never reached type-high on the toe.
People bring a face still in the paper sleeve and expect a blessing. The gauge does not bless. If the mill never cut square at the toe, Wrightsville will finish the rounding before the second summer.
We photograph nothing. We write remaining depth on the ticket and we name the salt hours the owner actually plays. A downtown afternoon face can live a year longer than a dawn face at Masonboro. That is not a slogan. That is packing.
